Hello Cambridgers, I am here to write about 3 opening credits I have researched!! These opening credits are from the Horror genre. I will be analyzing each to possibly implement some of their features into my own intro.
Halloween:
Halloween's opening credits only includes a carved out pumpkin and credits that just say who did what, these opening credits took the easier route rather than showing a lot. This can make production easier. The flame of the pumpkin was just glowing in a dark background and the music gave it an eerie feeling even though nothing happened, it still made the viewer nervous. As the credits go by, the camera tracks closer and closer to the pumpkin until finally the pumpkin disappears and the screen becomes black and there are no more credits.
The Shining's opening credits are rather interesting, without the eerie suspenseful music, it could be seen as a scenic drive through the wilderness. The music is mainly the largest part of this whole opening credits scene. The music was very eerie and suspenseful which instilled a bit of fear in me, the music was very slow and loud and the type of noises it made is not found in upbringing songs. As the credits go on, it follows a yellow car, by now that's all we have seen, a yellow car navigating through the mountains snake like path. This whole opening instilled a lot of foear in me and because of this I rate it high on my list.
The Thing:
The Thing's opening credits in my opinion are boring, yet they bring in many emotions. The music in the opening was rather powerful and loud, it really made me feel uneased. The credits just had text appearing and a black screen which also the black screen in my opinion made it more suspenseful than what it is meant to be as it is like as if you're walking into the unknown due to the black screen.
